Our Network Backbone

The Network Backbone of your Managed Hosting provider is the single greatest technical component to a well operating website. Jupiter Hosting's backbone is robust and resilient. Building the Jupiter Hosting network took over a year to design and install. Our backbone has features that other managed hosting providers simply do not have.

  • Built for Ultra High Performance and Scalability

Jupiter Hosting’s entire core network has capacity for 128Gbps of line-rate routing. Our entire core is built on the 10Gbps network transport technology, introduced to the internet five years ago, and a proven method of aggregating massive volumes of traffic over a single pair of fiber optic cables. The OC-192 transport layer of the dot com era is now being replaced wholly with 10Gbps Ethernet.

  • 1,000 Mbps to Each Managed Hosting Server

With faster servers on the market from Dell, Sun, and HP, the old standard of connecting servers to the hosting backbone at 100 Mbps is no longer viable. Individual servers are capable of pushing up to and over 1,000 mbps of bandwidth each. For that reason, Jupiter Hosting was the first managed hosting provider to install an all Gigabit-to-the-Server Edge network. For no additional cost, Jupiter Hosting will connect your server to the internet, on our backbone, at 1,000 Mbps (1Gbps) each. No special strings to pull, no extra port charges.

  • Designed and built by Jupiter Hosting and Foundry Networks.

In a joint partnership with Foundry Networks, we worked hand in hand with Foundry to design, install, and deploy our network. By working directly with the hardware manufacture on the deployment of the network infrastructure, we are able to guarantee a 100% network uptime.

  • Massively Redundant.

Redundancy is something that many providers speak about, but truly implementing it is often a lot harder than it looks, and if done incorrectly, can cause more problems than prevent. The idea behind redundancy when it comes to large networks is to have complete diversity from the electrical feeds that power the network hardware, to the protected-path fiber optic entry and exists in a data center facility. Simply having two routers does not make a redundant network. Jupiter Hosting’s network has been designed with N+1 diversity and redundancy. From diversely fed power circuits to multiple power supplies per router, to diverse fiber routes in and out of our data center facilities, every single point of failure has been engineered out of our network. This makes it easy for us to guarantee 100% network uptime.
