Managed Backups

Unlike traditional backup services which offer a tape backup solution, Jupiter Hosting offers a “Nearline” Data Backup Service. Nearline (vs. Offline or Online) storage may be used for low I/O intensive applications and highly accessible backup storage.

How it works:

Nearline storage is always immediately available in real time, and may be used as a Network Attached Storage device connected directly to one or many of your servers. It may also be used in conjunction with a traditional data backup client managed by Jupiter Hosting.

For example, you may want to ensure that all data on your managed servers is backed up incrementally nightly, and that a full backup of your servers takes place each Sunday night. The described backup schedule will be created by Jupiter Hosting staff. In the event that data is lost, simply contact support and follow the described restore procedures to have critical data recovered.

For others who wish to simply utilize the Nearline storage as a secondary file directly, a defined “slice” of storage is assigned to the customer and may be shared across all servers. This service is typically used for critical low I/O applications such as Databases, and infrequently accessed critical files.
